Educational Technology Philosophy

My Philosophy of education as it relates to technology has evolved from growing up in a technology rich environment. I grew up in the 1990’s where technology was a part of every aspect of my life. I want to excite children about learning. I desire to bring learning with the incorporation of technology alive for them, opening doors that they may have never had access to before. I feel that my purpose as an educator is to create lifelong learners that continuously seek opportunities to develop and grow.
In my short teaching career I have always been drawn to the use of technology in the classroom. I have discovered that today’s kids are just naturally drawn to technology. For example, when I am dining out at a restaurant I see most of the young children in the establishment playing on smart phones.  Through using different technology mediums in the classroom you make certain processes faster, and you can address numerous learning styles. Based upon this opinion, I think it shows that I am teaching from a constructivism point of view.
Incorporating technology into the classroom, is in my opinion, here to stay. Looking into the outside world, technology is a part of everyday life. It has been brought into every career field out there in some shape or form. More and more people are working from home. Even in the field of education technology has taken learning out of the classroom and brought it to numerous settings.
My concept of learning is when in any given situation growth and development occur. Learning happens in many different areas. I think that the best environment for children is learning that takes place in as close to a school setting as possible. An environment that is rich in technology is a necessary component for preparing our children for future society.

My goal as a teacher for my students is for them to become well rounded future members of society. I want them to learn all the necessary skills needed to successfully navigate through life. Becoming problem solvers, who can think on their feet and deal with people appropriately is important to me for my students to learn. I think that it is vital that children learn how to effectively communicate with people, and know conflict resolution skills to deal with different situations that are going to arise. The children that we are teaching now are going to be our future leaders that will one day be running the show.
Technology is constantly advancing and changing. I am doing myself and my students a major disservice if I do not stay abreast of the latest technology. Thus, I want to keep up with the trends of technology and how to incorporate them into the world of education. I look for various training's to attend both within and outside of the field of teaching. It is important to me as not just an educator, but as a person to continue to grow and develop myself daily.
I want my interactions with students to be a positive experience. I desire to make an impressionable impact on the children that I come into contact with. I have been called to work with children. I have a passion for children, and I want to foster their learning, while helping to develop them into successful adults. I dream of being a teacher that stands out in the minds of my students, a teacher that sets an example for them to follow. An educator that they will remember for years to come, and someone who has made a remarkable difference in their life.
